Students from schools across the country recently participated in the Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Poetry and Oratorical Contest hosted by the Department of Analytical Services.

The activity formed part of the Knowledge, Aptitudes and Practices component under the recently completed GEF 5558 Regional project.

This contest which targeted primary school children sought to sensitise its contestants to the issues of POPs and inspire in them the ability to educate others through two creative writing pieces: Poetry and Oratory.

The winners of the competitions were awarded by Laël Bertide-Josiah of the Department of Analytical Services.

The candidates were judged based on their speech, delivery, the significance of the topic and general excellence.

Bertide-Josiah congratulated all the winners on their exceptional submissions and encouraged them to keep up their impressive work.
