Theatric Lighting and Stage Effects and JOMA Caribbean Stoneville clinched third place in the Women’s Division 1 competition of the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association’s (ABAVA) Local Club League on Tuesday evening.

Stoneville were awarded a 3-0 victory by default against bottom team Royal Cruisers, who failed to show up for their final encounter at the indoor stadium at the YMCA Sports Complex.

Stoneville were credited with a 25-0, 25-0, 25-0 victory to wrap up their campaign with their fifth win from their quota of 10 matches in the six-team round-robin league.

The result allows Stoneville to leapfrog Jets from fourth to third place, with both teams finishing on 25 points apiece. However, Stoneville clinched third place by virtue of recording five wins, one more than the Jets.

The Royal Cruisers also finished their campaign in the cellar after slumping to their ninth loss during their quota of 10 games.

Meanwhile, bottom team Phoenix High Flyerz claimed their first win in the Men’s Division 1 League on Tuesday.

The Phoenix High Flyerz were awarded a 3-0 (25-0, 25-0, 25-0) victory against the Renegades, who were unable to field a team for the encounter.

The Phoenix High Flyerz, who have one game left to play, will remain in the cellar of the seven-team round-robin competition after securing one win in 11 encounters.

The Renegades remain second from the bottom of the standings with 14 points after losing for the ninth time in 11 games.

The Men’s Division 1 League will resume with a double-header at the YMCA Sports Complex on Thursday (today).

High Flyerz will clash with the Phoenix High Flyerz at 6:45 pm, and newly crowned first-time champions ABI Insurance and Cool and Smooth Pytonz will tackle the Invaders at 7:45 pm.
