St. Kitts and Nevis Takes Jaycees Crown
Monday 30th July, 2018 –Shaniqua Lanns, Ms. Saint Kitts and Nevis was crowned the 57th Jaycees Queen last evening, when the annual competition was held at Carnival City.
Seven delegates participated in the JCI show, the first time they have had such a small number of girls.
Know for drawing up to 14 girls, an official said this year, several countries including Dominica and St. Maarten did not participate, due to the hurricanes that affected their countries last year.
The first runner-up position was awarded to Ashley Bodhoo, Ms. Antigua and Barbuda, while Felicia Limada, Ms. Caribbean United States secured the second runner-up position.
In addition to being crowned the 57th Queen, Ms. Lanns was awarded Ms. Photogenic and also the award for being true to the theme.
Ms. St. Lucia, chancy Fonteenelle was judged most Photogenic.
A prize giving ceremony was held at noon today, before the delegates’ departures from Antigua.
Carnival events continue this evening with the staging of the Mr. and Ms. Teenage Pageant Show sponsored by Scotiabank.
14 students from private and public secondary schools across the island will compete this evening for the two titles.
The show begins at 8pm at Carnival City.
