Shawn Warner’s Family Receives his Body


Wednesday 16th January, 2019-Days after an emotional appeal was made by the sister of a young man for his body to be handed over to his family for burial, there is a new development.

On Monday, a tearful Natasha James in a social media post, pleaded with the authorities to release the body of her brother, Shawn Warner, who was allegedly electrocuted in Jolly Harbour in November, 2018.

James had accused the police of dragging their feet in the matter, lamenting that the family has been made to wait and it has taken an emotional toll on them. In the video viewed thousands of times, she begged on the family’s behalf for Warner’s body to be released so that they can prepare for a funeral, which will ultimately bring closure to the family.

Today, in an update on social media, Natasha James expressing appreciation for the outpouring of love and support the family has received said she, along with her mother and other family members held a meeting with Acting Commissioner of Police, Atlee Rodney and inspector Michael. While details of the meeting were not divulged, James noted that her “bother’s body is now in the hands of my mother, so we can lay him to rest while the investigation continues.”

She has asked for continued prayers for justice for her brother Shawn, adding they will not give up until justice is given. A date for the funeral James informed will be given shortly.

Shawn Warner was allegedly electrocuted, when he came in contact with a fence in Jolly Harbour where he worked. The Management of Caribbean Development (Antigua) Ltd has expressed sympathy and concern at the passing of Shawn Warner on its premises, but noted with confidence that their premises are safe to the general public.
