The 17-year-old Villa resident who was arrested and charged by police for the
robbery of a Saint Joseph’s Academy employee is remanded to His Majesty’s
Prison.
The youth appeared before the Child Justice Board on Monday after he was
charged over the weekend with robbery and shooting with intent to do grievous
bodily harm, in relation to the crime that was committed against Shane Anthony
on 4 th June at St. Joseph’s Academy located at Stapleton Lane. Reports indicate he
was also involved in other robberies.
Anthony was held up by two young men bearing flare guns who robbed him of his
mobile phone and cash. One fired the flare gun after Anthony attacked him,
causing the adult to sustain burns to his left ear.
Police say the second accomplice, a 16-year-old, was taken into custody on
Sunday. He too will make an appearance before the Child Justice Board before
any charges are laid against him.
A search warrant was executed at his family’s Paynter’s home shortly before 7
pm, where police reportedly seized clothes and detained the teen on suspicion of
committing a felony, with aggravated robbery.
It is believed he will be formally charged shortly.
