Three schools in the St. Mary’s South constituency were presented with electric
fans to help them to cope with the several heat wabves that have been affecting the
country over the past several weeks.
The presentation started at the St. Mary’s School for Excellence in Bolans where
20 fans were presented to the principal, Casey Phillip, who thanked Senator
George for his goodwill gesture noting that this is a timely donation given the
current heat wave and the discomfort that this causes for students and teachers
alike.

Senator George said he firmly believes that students learn better in an environment
that is conducive to learning and the donation of electrical fans will go a long way
to alleviate the heat thus making it easier for students to concentrate on learning.
12 fans each donated to the S.R Olivia David Primary school (formerly Bolans
Primary) and the Urlings Primary school. At S.R Olivia David, Charlie Byers
accepted the fans on behalf of principal, Joycelyn James, while principal, Denese
Parker accepted the fans at the Urlings primary.
Senator George said ultimately there will come a time when the fans will have to
be replaced by air conditioning units, and that he is prepared to assist where
possible with that upgrade.
