Senator Michael Freeland has strongly condemned the recent vandalism and theft affecting several institutions in the St. George constituency, including educational facilities that serve the community’s children.

“These criminal acts are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” said Senator Freeland, “The safety and security of our students, parents, faculty, and all residents of St. George are my highest priorities, and I am working tirelessly with community partners, the business sector, and law enforcement to address this situation immediately.”

In response to these incidents, several concrete measures are already underway to enhance security across the constituency:

  1. Senator Freeland has reached out to members of the business community to assist with additional security cameras for other affected institutions. Furthermore, Senator Freeland will be partnering with the government to install comprehensive community security cameras throughout the St. George constituency.
  2. Community activist Bakesha James has generously donated funds towards the purchase of security cameras for Pigotts Primary School, demonstrating the power of community solidarity in protecting our children’s learning environment.
  3. Following discussions with the Honourable Steadroy Benjamin, Attorney General, Senator Freeland has received assurances of increased policing in the affected areas. Additionally, plans have been prioritized to establish a community watch group, to empower residents to take an active role in safeguarding their neighborhoods.

“I want to reassure every student, parent, and educator in our constituency that your safety is paramount,” Senator Freeland stated. “As a community, we will never relent in our efforts to maintain a safe environment where our children can learn and thrive without fear.”

Senator Freeland also emphasized his unwavering support for law enforcement efforts to investigate these crimes and bring perpetrators to justice. “I stand firmly with our police force as they work diligently to get to the bottom of this situation. The St. George community is united in its resolve that those responsible for these criminal acts will be identified, apprehended, and face the full consequences of the law.”

Members of the public who have any information regarding these break-ins are urged to come forward immediately. Information can be reported to the police or via the confidential CrimeStoppers Tips Hotline at 800-TIPS (8477).

“Our community’s strength lies in our unity,” Senator Freeland concluded, “Together, with vigilance, cooperation, and determination, we will ensure that St. George remains a safe place for all who live, work, and learn.”
