A Trinidad and Tobago national who arrived in Antigua and Barbuda two weeks ago and who went missing immediately after has not been located despite efforts by local volunteers and law enforcement to locate him.

The police have confirmed that Thomas ‘Tommy’ Vasquez arrived in Antigua on April 14 and was believed to have been staying with someone in Pares Village. He apparently went missing the next day, April 15, but no reports were made to the police until April 20, five days after.

The police say Vasquez was dropped off at a dwelling house in Pares and has not been heard from since. He was last seen in a black t-shirt, a pair of long black jeans and wearing a pair of white Nike Air Force sneakers. There has been no known contact from Vasquez to anyone, as far as the police can determine.

The police undertook a search for the missing man without success and by last weekend, the volunteer group, Concerned Citizens, got involved and began mobilizing search efforts to locate him.

On Monday, the group with the assistance of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force carried out an extensive search beginning at the Willikies Police Station.

According to President Dr. Jacqui Quinn: “We have been in touch with Candy Jageshar Vasquez and we have put her in touch with Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers. She is distraught and desperate to find her son.”

“We have given her the assurance that all efforts will be combined with the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force, the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda and civilians to mount a comprehensive search using drone technology, the K9 unit, vehicular and foot searches.”

A 12-member team from the Antigua and Barbuda Force, Defence, including the drone unit joined civilians in the manhunt n Monday.

Quinn has suggested that there was a strong lead which the search team found but which required the assistance of the police. Five officers from Willikies Police station and one from Parham joined the search party and assisted with these leads.

The search continues on Wednesday at 9:00 am starting from the Willikies Police station.
