Monday 11th February, 2019-Ricardo Drue has advanced to the finals of the Groovy International Soca Monarch competition in Trinidad.
He along with seven other artistes was named following the semi-finals last evening.
The others are Teddyson John, Swappi, Blaxx, Mandella, V’ghn, Tim/Tim/Rayzor and Preedy. They will compete on Friday 1st March in the finals, dubbed ‘Fantastic Friday’.
Ricardo Drue’s performance of ‘I got you’, secured him a place on the list.
In addition to competing, Soca Ambassador Ricardo Drue is leading Cultural and Tourism Promotions for Antigua and Barbuda during Trinidad’s Carnival 2019.
It was announced last month that a collaborative marketing effort between Ricardo Barriteau along with the Ministry of Sports, Culture, National Festivals and the Arts, and the Ministry of Tourism and Investment, would be undertaken to promote the destination and Antigua’s Carnival, during Trinidad’s Carnival festivities.
Honorable Daryll Matthew, Minister with responsibility for National Festivals expressed that that the partnership would add to the vision of his Ministry to promote the Summer Festival in a more strategic manner, with the full support of the Festivals Commission.
