Two persons associated with the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) have
announced their resignations from the party effective immediately.
In separate letters to the party hierarchy, Chaniel Imhoff, the party’s candidate in
the January 18 General Elections for St. Peter, as well as Avoy Knight who ran in
All Saints East and St. Luke on the party’s ticket, have offered their resignations
with immediate effect.

“This decision was not an easy one, as I have the utmost love and respect for all
the incredible individuals I have had the privilege of working alongside during my
time with the party. I am truly grateful for the experiences and friendships that
have enriched my life through our shared endeavors.”
“This was a difficult choice, but one that I believe is necessary for the next chapter
of my life,” Imhoff wrote in her letter.
For his part, Knight thanked the party for allowing him to offer himself as a
representative of the youth.
“In life, we ought to make difficult decisions on a daily basis; Today is no
different. I have dug deep within, and I have pondered for quite some time and
after great consideration, I have decided to resign effective immediately from The
Democratic National Alliance.
“The Democratic National Alliance has allowed me to stamp my footprint in the
history books of this nation and allowed me to truly stand to represent the people
and youths of this country. I am forever indebted to the leader, members, and
supporters of this great organization,” he wrote.
The DNA was founded back in 2017, when its leader, Joanne Massiah left the
United Progressive Party with her supporters to form the party with the hope that it
would become a viable alternative to the two main political parties. But two
general elections later, the DNA has failed to break the hold of the two main
political parties, the ABLP and the UPP, have on the country’s politics.
