Monday 4th June, 2018-Government has asked an Antiguan entrepreneur in the United States to defer his plans for a cultural park, museum, shops and an entertainment centre  for Barbuda and focus instead on the provision of homes for residents of the sister isle.

In 2016, Ray Farquhar had entered into an agreement with the Barbuda Council for the construction of the facilities in order to boost tourism in Barbuda. But then came Hurricane Irma in 2017.

Now Cabinet has advised that pre-fabricated houses be provided that will be sold to Barbudan families.

Ambassador Lionel ‘Max’ Hurst expressed confidence that based on the need for houses in Barbuda the Council will give approval to the project.

The entrepreneur is to embark on the housing project immediately. Twenty of the houses will be shipped to Barbuda within the next month.
