The police are continuing their investigations into the circumstances surrounding
the drowning of a toddler at Briggins.
It was reported that sometime after 8 am on Sunday, April 28, the family of 3-year-
old Zyonandon Collin Hope, found him floating face down in a swimming.
The Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and immediately began
administering CPR, and subsequently transported him to the Sir Lester Bird
Medical Center. Doctors at the hospital also tried to resuscitate him; however, were
unsuccessful. His body was pronounced dead at 8:37 am.
Zyonandon and his mother arrived in the country about two weeks ago from the
United States to spend time with family.
The Police Administration regrets the unfortunate incident and expresses
condolences to his family.
Meanwhile, it was a busy weekend for law enforcement officers as they had to
contend with several traffic accidents and other matters.
The police have reported that five persons were arrested and charged by the police
for Dangerous Driving.
On Friday, April 26, the traffic department conducted several traffic checks at
major intersections across the island and arrested five drivers for driving through
the red light.
A total of fifty-two traffic tickets were also issued to drivers for various traffic
violations, including: Failure to Wear Seat Belts, Missing License Plates, and
Heavily Tinted Vehicles. Several vehicles were also impounded at the Government
Motor Pool for unlicensed purposes.
The traffic department is appealing to motorists to drive with due care and
attention, and avoid speeding on the roads.
In other police news…last Friday, the police arrested and charged 27-year-old
Jahari Adams of Golden Grove with robbery.
He is accused of robbing the owner of a Mini-Mart at Herberts of a cash-pan with
an undisclosed amount of money. He is further accused of robbing the owner of
her handbag with several important documents, ID's, and cash. These offences
occurred on April 19, 2024.
The police also charged him with unlawful possession of 309 grams of cannabis,
and possession of cannabis with intent to transfer.
