The police have employed a two-pronged approach to tackle the recent upsurge in
gun-related crimes.
Police Commissioner, Atlee Rodney, said the police have stepped up intelligence
gathering on such crimes being committed and they have asked business
proprietors to be alert and to report suspicious activities around their
establishments.
Additionally, Rodney said the police are also increasing patrols of hot spots around
the country where these crimes are likely to occur.
“We are currently investigating some of the recent reports of gun crimes that have
occurred in the country and we are hoping to make a breakthrough shortly. We are
also asking members of the public who have information that may be of assistance
to the police to pass it on to the nearest police station,” he noted.
The commissioner expressed the view that solving these crimes will take closer
collaboration between the police and the public as everyone is affected when they
occur.
Meanwhile, STRATCOM said in a press statement that the Police Administration
is generally satisfied with the outcome of Monday's Labour Day celebrations in
Antigua and Barbuda.
Having conducted a general assessment of the day’s activities, very few major
incidents were reported to the police.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Atlee Rodney is thanking the general public,
along with the organizers and supporters of the various marches for the
professional and responsible manner in which they conducted themselves.
Commissioner Rodney is also commending the contributions of his officers, along
with the support of the media.
The police are further reminding the general public that the 2023 Antigua Sailing
