The Indian High Commission in Guyana has presented a plague to Point Express newspaper for its role in promoting the recent observance of the 10th anniversary of International Yoga Day in Antigua and Barbuda.
Honorary Indian Consul, Vijay Tiwani, on Tuesday presented the plaque to the editor, Everton Barnes, on behalf of the High Commissioner, Dr. Amit Telang.
“On behalf of the High Commissioner, I present this token of our appreciation to Point Express for its role in promoting International Yoga Day here in Antigua and Barbuda. Thanks sincerely for your assistance in this venture,” he stated.
In accepting the plaque, Barnes noted that Point Express sees itself as a medium that serves the needs of the entire community in disseminating timely and factual information. “It’s something that we do without the expectation of plaques or other forms of recognition; it’s our duty, our calling. We however extend our thanks for this recognition,” he stated.
International Yoga Day was observed on June 21.
