PM Pledges Support for Displaced Residents
Thursday 26th July, 2018 –Prime Minister Gaston Browne today visited the families displaced by last evening’s fire in Grays Farm, pledging to assist those who are now homeless.
Fire officials from the All Saints Fire Department responded to the call shortly before midnight Thursday, arriving at Gilpin Avenue, where several structures were ablaze.
According to the officials, three structures were destroyed and two damaged, leaving four families homeless.
The Prime Minister, upon hearing the news cleared his scheduled and went to Grays Farm to speak with and console the affected families today.
The Prime Minister will be working to see how the families can be assisted and assured them that their homes will be restored. Also accompanying the Prime Minister was the Hon. Samantha Marshall, Minister with responsibility for Social Transformation and Sergent Veldon Ragguette, Project Coordinator for the HAPPI Programme.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters say galvanize fences in the area where the fire occurred were major hindrances in dousing the blaze last evening.
