Pilot In Drug Bust Denied bail

Monday 5th February, 2018 – The pilot who was charged for Friday’s drug bust on an aircraft was denied bail on Monday when he appeared before a magistrate.

Paynters resident Colin Murraine was deemed a flight risk when he appeared in court and was therefore remanded. He is facing charges of possession cocaine, exportation of cocaine, being in concern in the supply of cocaine and trafficking in cocaine.

Last Friday morning, officers of the Office of National Drug Control and Money Laundering Policy (ONDCP) interdicted a private charter plane that was preparing for takeoff at V.C Bird International Airport.

Four individuals to include pilots were detained as investigations begun. However, over the weekend, three persons were released from custody and 31 year-old Colin Murraine was charged.

He returns to court on 25th April, but while on remand, Mr. Murraine can petition the High Court to grant him bail.

The cocaine found aboard the aircraft last Friday weighed approximately 105 pounds. The drug carries an estimated wholesale value of One Million, Six Hundred and Sixty-seven Thousand, Six Hundred and One EC Dollars ($1,667,601.00 ECD).
