Blackburn Palace rebounded from a humiliating loss against Villa Lions to record their first win in the Fort Road Community Football League (FRCFL) on Saturday.
Conversions by Diondre Harrigan in the fourth minute and Imani Joyce in the 38th minute propelled Blackburn Palace to a 2-1 victory against Fort Road at the Fort Road playing field.
Shaquelle Perry scored the only goal for Fort Road in the 44th minute. Fort Road fought to a 2-2 draw with West Ham in their opening encounter in Group A.
Blackburn Palace suffered an 8-2 defeat against Villa Lions in their opening encounter. Tyrik “Castro” Hughes struck a hat trick, and Mali Johnson scored twice for the Villa Lions.
Hughes had conversions in the first, 52nd and 60th minutes, while Johnson scored in the ninth and 25th minutes.
The other goals for the Villa Lions were converted by Jah-Quane Richards in the 20th minute, Dejarnie Moore in the 27th, and Jahlanie Barzey in the 58th minute.
Diondre Harrigan scored both goals for Blackburn Palace with a strike in the 23rd minute and a penalty kick conversion in the 70th minute.
Enforcers launched their campaign in Group B with success after being awarded a 3-0 victory via default against Earthquake, who were unable to field a team for their Group B encounter on Saturday.
The league will resume at the Fort Road playing field on Monday (today). Enforcers will tackle Real Blizzard at 5 pm. Real Blizzard pulled off a 3-1 victory against Exclusive Ballaz in the opening Group B encounter last week.
Eight teams, divided into two zones, are contesting the Fort Road Community Football League.
