A quantity of supplies to aid in the protection of students from the COVID-19 virus was donated recently to the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries by the ABAG Foundation.
The supplies – which include masks, infrared body thermometers and hand sanitizers – will benefit students of the Golden Grove, Green Bay and Jennings primary schools; those from the Clare Hall and Ottos Comprehensive secondary schools; and the Boys’ Training School.
ABAG Foundation is an affiliate of the Antigua and Barbuda Association of Georgia. One of its goals is to “assist students of Antiguan and Barbudan heritage achieve their educational goals and become productive citizens”.
Board chairman Dean Benta said: “This year, in lieu of scholarships, the Foundation is happy to contribute to several public schools in Antigua and Barbuda in their ongoing efforts to cope with the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“The Foundation is mindful of the importance of education in the development of our youth and wish to commend the Ministry of Education, principals, teachers and all who work with and in the school system of Antigua and Barbuda,” Mr. Benta concluded.
In accepting the donation, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Rosa Greenaway thanked the ABAG Foundation for the gesture and assured that the supplies will go a long way in protecting students at a time when COVID-19 remains a major concern.
