The Optimist Club of Antigua on Sunday staged the annual The Optimist Petit Show which attracts participation from pre-teen boys and girls.

Described as ‘not your typical pageant’, the Optimist Petit is a developmental show which aims to provide an avenue for boys and girls, ages 9-11 to display their skills within specific categories.

A spokesman for the Optimist Club said the show consists of three judged segments, namely talent, personality and aspiration, as well as interviewing skills in addition to an opening number and evening/party wear, which were not judged segments.

10-year Jahzia Reid, a student of the Sunnyside School and who was sponsored by Auto Craze Parts and Accessories, emerged as the overall winner. 1st runner up, 10 year-old Shatoya Kendall, student of Five Islands Primary school, sponsored by Civil Engineering and Associated Services. 2nd Runner up, 11 year-old Azalyah Ambrose, a student of Pigotts Primary school who was sponsored by Millennium Brokerage and Equipment Services. 3rd runner up was 10 year-old Jaedah Baird, a student of Villa Primary school, sponsored by Glenn’s Pet Paradise.

This year saw nine delegates, eight girls and one boy, competing for the title. The show was held at the UWI Global Campus.

This year, 2025, also marks 30 years of the Optimist Club putting on this spectacular show.
