Observer Media Served With Eviction Notice
Monday 30th July, 2018 –Observer Media Group’s Chief Operating Officer has described an eviction notice the company has received as a blow to their daily operations.
The company has been given three months in which to vacate the building they currently occupy at Airport Boulevard.
The media company, which operates Observer Radio and The Daily Observer Newspaper, was served notice by the joint liquidators of the Stanford Development Company dated 26th July, 2018.
Observer has been occupying the building, which formerly housed Sun Printing and Publishing since 2012. However, the lease expired since 2014, and the company has been paying the rent ever since, without a new agreement.
Details of the notice were revealed today by Observer Media Group’s Chief Operating Officer Darren Derrick.
According to Derrick, the company has offered to purchase the property some three to four years ago, through Gilbert Boustany who serves as the agent for the liquidators, but they have been unsuccessful.
With an evection notice served, the COO says he is now awaiting instructions from the board of directors.
The board is made up of members from Winston Derrick’s side of the family, and the relationship has not been the best between the family members.
He says they will be requesting an extension to the eviction notice.
