The Nobu Restaurant Barbuda is nestled on the northwestern side of the island, just a few minutes’ drive from the River Dock, where the ferry lands and departs to and from Antigua at least twice a day.
Located on the beachfront with a spectacular view of one of Barbuda’s many lovely beaches, the restaurant’s ambience is laid back; no formalities as casual attire is permitted. However, the food is a gastronomical treat you would not soon forget.
My team and I traveled to Codrington for the Caribana activities over the Whit Weekend and arrangements were made for us to have lunch at Nobu on Saturday. By the time the confirmation came and we hurried to the restaurant it was a few minutes after 4:00 pm. “You are just in time for a quick lunch as our kitchen closes at 4:30,” Manager Michela Eremita informed us as we arrived. (She too received late word that we were coming and she was doing her best to accommodate us under the circumstances).
What transpired next was a joy as one member of the team ordered sushi while two others ordered chicken kebab, one served with rice and the other with fries. I can’t speak to the sushi, but the chicken skewers with teriyaki sauce was as tender as it was succulent. The baby spinach with avocado was attractively presented and pleasing to the taste buds.
Despite the short notice and with preparations for closing in progress prior to our arrival, it was truly a delightful experience dining at Nobu Restaurant Barbuda.
We also earnt that visitors to the island quite often do a daytrip to Barbuda specially to have lunch at Nobu. It’s a trip worth the while.
