The drive towards building cleaner, and healthier communities across Antigua and Barbuda has received a major boost as the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) unveiled three brand-new 20-ton trucks. This investment marks another bold step in improving waste management efficiency and sustainability across the country.

The arrival of these heavy-duty vehicles will significantly enhance landfill operations by ensuring that daily soil coverage is maintained which is a key component of proper landfill management. This will help reduce odour, control pests, prevent fires, and promote safer, more environmentally sound landfill conditions.

Beyond landfill operations, the new trucks will also play a vital role in supporting ongoing clean-up efforts across communities, assisting in the collection and removal of bulk waste volumes generated during the 2025 National Clean-Up Campaign, launched in October under the inspiring theme “Love Where You Live!”

The additional heavy duty machinery represents more than an equipment upgrade. It is an investment in the environment, public health, and the pride of every citizen. With these new resources, the Authority is building a stronger foundation for sustainable waste management and cleaner communities nationwide.

The NSWMA extends appreciation to the Government for its continued partnership and commitment to environmental resilience. Because when we love where we live, we take care of it.
