The Member of Parliament for St. John’s Rural North, Charles Max Fernandez has spearheaded a back-to-school donation initiative designed to ease the financial burden on families as they prepare for the new academic year. It is the 11th consecutive year, that the representative is making this timely donation to constituents.
Over the weekend and throughout this week, MP Fernandez led the distribution of approximately 700 school bags and essential supplies to parents and children across his constituency. The packages included school bags, lunch kits, calculators, geometry sets, flash drives, writing materials, and other necessities to support students’ academic readiness.
A member of the constituency team emphasized the significance of the initiative, noting:
“Supplying essential school items not only relieves financial stress for families, but also directly impacts how well-prepared students are to succeed in their curriculum.”
Reflecting on the programme’s longevity, MP Fernandez stated:
“For over a decade, we have watched our children grow and excel academically, from preschool and kindergarten to primary and secondary school, and now even college. Distributing these supplies year after year has given my team and me front-row seats to their educational journey, and that tells a special story of our community’s commitment.”
The St. John’s Rural North team emphasizes that equipping children with the tools they need is more than an act of generosity, it is an investment in the future. Studies show that students with proper school supplies perform better academically, develop stronger self-esteem, and cultivate the confidence to reach their full potential. By empowering today’s learners, the initiative contributes to building tomorrow’s leaders and breaking down barriers that hinder opportunity.
