40-year-old Oszie Kelvin Russell, aka Mongoose, of Lightfoot has been ordered to serve a jail term of 3-years and six months for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Russell appeared before Senior Magistrate, Ngaio Emanuel on Thursday for sentencing after he pleaded guilty to the charge on Wednesday for possessing one Glock 80 Pistol and 10 matching rounds of ammunition, along with a firearm compressor (silencer).

After following the sentencing guidelines as set out by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, Magistrate Emanuel ordered Russell to 3-years and six months on the illegal possession of a weapon charge, one year for the illegal possession of ammunition and one year for the illegal possession of the compressor (silencer). The sentences are to run concurrently.

Earlier this week, the police executed a search warrant on Russell’s home in Lightfoot when, during the search, he threw what turn out to be the pistol outside through the bedroom window. A further search uncovered the ammunition as well as the compressor.
