The Ministry of Health and the Environment has announced that it will mobilise much resources to undertake major clean-up effort that will impact the entire nation of Antigua and Barbuda.
The clean-up will be spearheaded by the National Solid Waste Management Authority which said in a statement that the national clean-up has already started and it will move from community to community.
“We are cleaning up drains, coastal areas, main roads, and village corners – we’re tackling it all! The clean-up campaign has started in the scheduled areas to include Grays Farm, Hatton, and Green Bay. All residents are asked to cooperate by placing their bulk waste on the curbside. This is more than cleaning, this is about restoring pride in our communities, showing respect for our environment by making Antigua and Barbuda shine again,” a NSWMA statement noted.
The statement is urging residents in other communities to listen for the announcement when the campaign will move into their specific areas. “We are coming to every community, and every home. Let’s make our surrounding reflect our pride. Love where you live,” the statement added.
