Ministry Lauds Officers Honoured By Governor General
Tuesday 22nd May, 2018 -The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is extending best wishes to Princess Margaret School’s Principal Dr. Colin Greene and the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda’s Curator Michelle Henry for being listed in the Governor General’s Personal Honours.
Dr. Greene and Ms. Henry were among ten Antiguans and Barbudans who received the Governor General’s Faithful and Meritorious Service Award during a ceremony on the lawns of Government House last Thursday.
Before family, friends and other awardees, the Princess Margaret School principal was bestowed the Faithful and Meritorious Service Medal, Gold, for outstanding service in the field of education.
Director of Education Clare Browne, in offering congratulations to Dr. Greene, highlighted his dedication to the profession and his ability to twin sports and academics. Mr. Browne added that Dr. Green’s leadership skills are unquestionable and are tested daily through his management of the largest secondary school in the country.
“The Ministry of Education acknowledges the contributions made by Dr. Greene in the advancement of education in Antigua and Barbuda and we especially offer heartiest congratulations to him on the accolade he has received,” Mr. Browne noted.
Dr. Colin Greene has served as an administrator for over 16 years. Fifteen of those years he has served as Principal of Princess Margaret School. He also serves as a consultant on education and labour relations matters.
During Thursday’s awards ceremony, Curator of the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, Michelle Henry was also honoured. She is the recipient of the Governor General’s Faithful and Meritorious Service Medal, Silver, for notable service in the field of Heritage and Culture.
Ms. Henry has worked at the Museum for the past 23 years and is engaged in a number of projects, including the development of a heritage programme for schools, designed to promote an early appreciation for Antigua and Barbuda’s history and heritage. She is also credited along with Dr. Reginald Murphy with compiling the nomination dossier for Antigua and Barbuda’s successful World Heritage Site application for Nelson’s Dockyard.
The Governor General’s Personal Honours was introduced in 2017 and is awarded in three categories:
Faithful and Meritorious Service Cross
Faithful and Meritorious Service Medal, Gold
Faithful and Meritorious Service Medal, Silver
