Lieutenant Colonel Alando Michael of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force is the newest member of the Industrial Court of Antigua and Barbuda.

On Monday, the Governor General Sir Rodney Williams officiated at the swearing-in ceremony for Lt. Col. Michael. This appointment marks the completion of the Court’s full complement of members.

Lt Col Michael took two solemn oaths during the ceremony: The Oath of Secrecy and the Oath of Office, pledging to uphold the duties and responsibilities entrusted to him with integrity and confidentiality.

In his remarks, Sir Rodney warmly congratulated Lt Col Michael on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute significantly to the fair and just resolution of industrial disputes in Antigua and Barbuda.

The Industrial Court plays a vital role in maintaining harmonious labour relations within the country. It is tasked with adjudicating disputes between employers and employees, interpreting labour laws, and ensuring compliance with employment contracts and collective agreements. The Court’s work is essential to fostering a stable and productive work environment that benefits both workers and businesses alike.

With Lt Col Alando Michael’s appointment, the Industrial Court of Antigua and Barbuda is now fully staffed to continue its important mission of promoting fair labour practices and contributing to the social and economic development of the nation.
