Tuesday 29th January, 2019-The Development Control Authority is expected to continue engaging property owners who are blocking access to beaches around the island with the hope that they will discontinue the practice.

The issue of access has played out for years in the public, but Minister Maria Bird-Browne is maintaining Antiguans and Barbudans must have access to all public beaches. She declared during the budget debate that the law is clear regarding accessibility.

The Minister of Housing, Lands and Urban Renewal says the DCA has been tasked with ensuring the issue is tackled, but they are receiving some push back.

Minister Bird-Browne noted that this year, her ministry will work in tandem with the Ministry of Works to ensure there are proper roads and adequate signage that lead to public beaches.
