Wednesday 7th February, 2018 – The Japanese woman who was charged for battery and disorderly conduct pleaded guilty when she appeared before a magistrate on Wednesday.
57 year-old Masayo Goto was convicted and sentenced to 14 days in prison for battery on police and 14 days for resisting arrest. Additionally, she was sentenced to 7 days for disorderly conduct.
According to police, Masayo Goto, who arrived in Antigua on Monday aboard Caribbean Airlines Flight # 459 from Jamaica, put up a fight with Customs Officers, and refused to be searched, during a routine check.
Narcotics and K-9 Officers, who were also on duty at the airport, rushed to the assistance of their Law Enforcement colleagues, as a result of the kicking, screaming and rambunctious behaviour of the Japanese national.
A search was eventually carried out on her bags and nothing of interest was found. She was taken into custody.
