It’s Day 3 (and final day) of the 55th Regular Session of the Organisation of American States (OAS) General Assembly that is being hosted by the government and people of Antigua and Barbuda.

Members of the various delegations and observer groups have been lavishing praise and compliments on the government and people, both publicly and privately, for executing what they described as a well-managed meeting with the hospitality of the people and the beauty of Antigua serving as backdrop to the successful meeting.

There have been a several bilateral meetings by visiting delegations with Prime Minister Gaston Browne with similar meetings being hosted separately by Foreign Affairs Minister, E.P Chet Greene and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Clarence Pilgrim.

Foreign Minister Greene has been serving as the chair of the Plenary sessions but as is customary at these types of meetings, there have been a packed agenda for ‘side-meetings’ and other forms of engagements at both the official and un-official levels.

Today’s final session is slated to run into the evening with the presentation of papers from groups such as the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the Pan American Health Organisation and the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission.
