The High Commission of India accredited to Antigua and Barbuda, Dr Amit Telang, presented cricket kits to the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Cricket West Indies and Leeward Cricket Academy in Antigua and Barbuda as part of the High Commission’s outreach to cricket institutions in the country.

The initiative has been undertaken with support from M/s Ashoka Buildcon, one of the prominent Indian infrastructure companies now active in many continents across the world including in South America and Caribbean. The initiative was supported by prominent cricketing legends like Sir Richie Richardson, Antigua and Barbuda’s goodwill Ambassador for forging closer people to people contacts between the people of India and Caribbean.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, High Commissioner highlighted that cricket is one of the important bridge connecting India and Caribbean promoting friendship and bilateral relations. Sir Richie Richardson also echoed the sentiments and recalled the cricketing ties between India and Antigua and Barbuda.

The High Commission and the Office of Hon. Consul Vijay Tewani will continue to work with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda to promote deeper ties between India and the twin-island nation which share a longstanding mutually beneficial partnership.
