Six families received keys to their new homes that form part of the Lighthouse
Housing Project near Bolans.
The presentation took place on Wednesday with the six home owners in attendance
along with Housing Minister, the Honourable Maria Browne, as well as members
of the board of Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHAPA) and staff of the
statutory body, led by the Housing Executive Officer, Mark Richards.
Also in attendance were Senator the Honourable Dwayne George, the ABLP
Candidate for the upcoming by-election in the St Mary’s South constituency due
by October 26. Former representative, Senator the Honourable Samantha Marshall,
under whose tenure the project started also attended.
The project features two and three bedroom concrete houses built to withstand the
climatic events such as hurricanes.
A spokesman for CHAPA said the agency will construct a total of 60 homes as part
of the development. The spokesman disclosed that the Lighthouse Project is just
one of several currently being undertaken by the government’s housing agency.

The Housing Minister announced that more home owners will receive keys to their
houses by the end of the week. She said the project is one of several being
undertaken by the government as part of what has been termed the ‘housing
revolution’ it has initiated in the country. Keys were also presented to respective
owners at Oliver’s (behind LICS ltd.) as a few new homes were handed over this
week and there are many more new homes to distribute.
The Cabinet applauded National Housing and CHAPA for their vigilance in
providing new homes at a discounted rate to citizens in need of housing.
Chairman of the Board at CHAPA, Craig Christopher, congratulated the home
owners who received their keys, noting that while there were challenges along the
way, together every arrived at a happy ending.
