The High Court Building in St. John’s is re-opening today (Wednesday, June 7)
after being closed to have the building fully cleaned for allergens.
High Court Registrar, Cecile Hill, said following extensive cleaning of the interior
and continued work being done on the air conditioning units, the Public Servants
Association President, Joan Peters, met with the staff on Tuesday and informed
them that she is pleased with the work that was done and that they could now
return to work.
The staff at the High Court had been complaining that allergens in the building had
been making them sick, and it was because of their intervention that the Court was
closed for deep cleaning.
However, Hill said over the next three days the court will operate from 9:00 am to
1:00 pm. This changes next Monday when the office hours return to normal.
