Group of artists to participate in cultural activities in NYC

Several performers who scored big, in the just-concluded Carnival festivities will
be in New York City this weekend, to take part in the Antigua and Barbuda Day
activities.
A flyer promoting the main event, a star-studded show, lists several artists carded
to perform at the Gil-Scott Heron Amphitheatre in the Bronx, New York. Among
the artists are Claudette Peters, the reigning Party Monarch (Groovy) winner,
Ricardo Drue, and Empress. All three tied for the Road March Champion title, this
year. The 2023 Panorama Champions, Hell’s Gate Steel Orchestra will also
perform.
The artists’ participation is being facilitated by the Antigua and Barbuda Festival
Office.
Other performers include Supa Mario, Vicious and Laurena Davis.
Radio/television personality – Ibis, Lawrence M and Lerter Kool will jointly host
the programme.
Three nationals – Dr. Oswald Thomas, Pamchetta Francis and Tiria Mason – are
the organisers of the event. Mason said the event is free to patrons and the artists’
performances are also free. “We provide an opportunity for these artists to
perform, and anyone wishing to perform is invited to do so,” she explained.
Monday, September 4 is Labour Day in the United States and the island
associations representing the Caribbean diaspora in the Tristate area, use the
weekend to hold activities to highlight the culture of their respective countries.
