Gray Hill resident Daquan Browne was fined by the Magistrates’ Court after
pleading guilty to firearm and ammunition charges.
It is unclear where and when the illegal items were discovered. Browne was
charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition and was taken before Chief
Magistrate, Joanne Walsh, in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
In court, he was fined EC$2,000 for the unlicensed firearm. In default, Daquan
Browne will spend six months in prison, and on the charge of possession of
ammunition, a fine of EC$500 was imposed or three months at His Majesty’s
Prison, if he defaults.
The fines are to be paid in full by 31 st  August 2023.
Police also executed a search warrant at Daquan Browne’s residence on Monday
but came up ‘empty-handed.’
In an unrelated matter, Hakeem Jeffrey of Golden Grove was sentenced to two
years in prison for having in his possession a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol and
seven 9mm luger rounds of ammunition.
He pleaded guilty to the two charges while appearing before Chief Magistrate
Joanne Walsh on Monday.
His two-year sentence will run concurrently.
