Government to Establish Crypto Currency Exchange
Wednesday 4th April, 2018 –Parliament will examine a new law shortly that will make provisions for the establishment of a Crypto Currency Exchange.
Government says it is determined to be on the cutting edge of the new system of creating wealth with the expectation that the exchange will generate non-tax revenue for the Treasury.
The steps towards the Crypto Currency Exchange are being lead by Economic Envoy Calvin Ayre as Information Minister Melford Nicholas explains.
Calvin Ayre is to construct a $100m five-star resort on Antigua, to be funded by profits from digital currencies.
Crypto currency is a form of digital money that is designed to be secure and, in many cases, anonymous. It is a currency associated with the internet that uses cryptography, the process of converting legible information into an almost uncrackable code, to track purchases and transfers.
The first crypto currency was bitcoin, which was created in 2009 and is still the best known.
