The government has launched an aggressive campaign to rid the country of illegal dispensaries, some of which involve individuals roving the country administering a variety of drugs.
As part of the campaign, Cabinet has given its full support to the Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Alfred Athill, to crack down on a growing trend of illegal businesses appearing around the country administering illegal treatments to individuals to include the injecting of Ozempic. Ozempic is a popular weight-loss, but like all medicines, it must be dispensed by licensed pharmacists based on prescriptions issued by a doctor.
The Director and the police conducted an undercover operation over the weekend on one such illegal business and confiscated a number of items to include drugs and syringes filled with what appear to be substance for the illegal treatment of patients.
An individual was detained and questioned and later released while police continue their investigations. No charges have yet been filed.
