Residents of Antigua and Barbuda who wish to commence the study of Portuguese as a foreign language have an opportunity to do so under a programme organized by the Brazilian government.
A release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Government of Brazil wishes to inform that the Brazilian National Association of Directors of Federal Higher Education Institutions (ANDIFES) is offering, through the ANDIFES IsF Network – Languages without Borders, free online Portuguese as a Foreign Language Courses.
The courses are open to the general foreign public, and participants do not need to be affiliated with the universities in the network or be in Brazil. In addition, most of the courses can be taken by people who do not have knowledge of Portuguese.
There are 325 places available in 11 courses. Registration is free and open until 12:00 p.m. on April 4, 2025, (BrasÃlia time). To register, candidates must present an identification document (Passport, RNE – National Foreigner’s Registry -, RNM – National Migration Registry -, or CPF) and, if necessary, proof of proficiency or a self-declaration that they can attend classes at the level they have indicated.
The list of selected candidates will be released on April 24 and the courses will begin on April 28.
