Football Officials Want Investigation To Clear Their Names
Tuesday 19th June, 2018 –One of the Antiguan football officials who returned home late evening from Jamaica following a series of unfortunate events, wants the football association to conduct an investigation to further clear their names.
Assistant Coach Derrick “Pretty Boy” Edwards said last evening on arrival at VC Bird International Airport that it was important to know what happened in the lead up to their arrest.
Declaring it isn’t his intention to go on a witch hunt, Edwards said clearing his name and that of his colleague Danny Benjamin was priority in order for them to move on with their lives.
The two men were arrested in March after just over 3 pounds of cannabis was discovered in a travel bag as they made their way through Norman Manley International Airport, Jamaica, en route to Antigua.
They were subsequently charged jointly with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking steps to export ganja and conspiracy.
Last week the charges were dismissed as there was not sufficient evidence to prove their guilt.
