The two top seeds, EZ Fit Flyers and Cuties Ovals Ojays, have moved one step closer to clinching the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association’s (ABBA) playoff titles.
Both teams are now just one win away from lifting the playoff title in their respective divisions after taking a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five finals at the JSC Sports Complex.
After winning the opening game 89-65, reigning league and defending Division 1 playoff champion EZ Fit Flyers snatched a 78-74 victory against second seed Total Imports EMC’s Potters Steelers in Game 2 of the finals.
Xavier Meade sank 22 and grabbed 10 rebounds; Adonis Humphreys converted 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds; Kenya Ahcom scored 14 points and claimed eight rebounds; and David Hernandez converted 10 points for the Flyers.
Cohen Desouza sank 14 points and claimed five rebounds; Kareem Edwards scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds; Marlon Charles converted 13 points and snatched six rebounds; Jayden Andrew produced 12 points and nine assists; and Leroy Wilkinson chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds for the Potters Steelers.
After winning the opening game 77-55, the Ovals Ojays, who are also the reigning league champions, notched up a 63-50 victory against second seed Navigators in Game 2 of their Division 2 playoff finals.
Jayleyle Joseph produced 17 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocks; Tajahron Davis sank 14 points and claimed five rebounds; Orion Seraphine scored nine points and snatched eight rebounds; and Tequan Brodie converted eight points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Ovals Ojays.
Ricky Willock converted 14 points; De-Lornge Jules sank nine points; Baldwin Anthony scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds; and Ariel Quallis contributed seven points, 11 rebounds, and five assists for the Navigators.
