A Parham resident who lost her home in a fire almost three years ago, has been presented with a new home through the efforts of the Social Protection Board, the HAPI Programme and representative for the area, Rawdon Turner.
On Tuesday, Claudette Willock and her family became the proud recipients of a new 36 x 20 3-bedroom house. The house was delivered to Willock and family fully furnished.
Social Protection Minister, Turner, Operations Manager at the Social Protection Board, Mary Baltimore and head of the HAPI Programme, Inspector Veldon Ragguette participated in the handing over ceremony.
“The HAPI Programme spread early Christmas cheer by presenting a thoughtful gift to. Claudette Willock of Parham. She was overjoyed and deeply touched by the kind gesture, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the generosity and warmth shared during in a timely manner,” Baltimore stated.
A breadfruit tree was also planted in Willock’s backyard along with fruit trees to encourage her to care them as a means of feeding herself and her children and to serve as an income-generating project.
Inspt. Ragguette who initiated the HAPI programme is extending appreciation to the Prison Superintendent, Trevor Pennifeather, for supporting the programme by making available inmates from the prison to undertake the construction of the house.
