Eye Care Programme to Receive Major Boost
Wednesday 24th October, 2018-Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, the Hon. Molwyn Joseph says the eye care programme being offered by the government will be significantly boosted as a result of equipment that were recently donated by the Chinese eye specialists several weeks ago.
The Chinese Doctors on their recent visit conducted some 356 cataract surgeries and donated their equipment to the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre before returning home.
The gesture according to Minister Joseph will greatly assist in future eye surgeries being performed in Antigua.
According to the health minister, provisions are being made to staff the hospital with the specialists needed to operate an effective eye care programme.
Minister Molwyn Joseph says eye care in Antigua and Barbuda can now be viewed as a comprehensive service that citizens and residents will be able to access without the need to travel abroad.
