Drivers Will Not be Spared When Traffic Law Takes Effect
Monday 11th February, 2019-The Minister of Public Safety is sparing no effort in enforcing traffic laws geared towards the reduction of accidents on the country’s roadways.
Minister Steadroy Benjamin, speaking on state television this morning informed the country that as of this Friday 15th February, 2019, the Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 2018 and the Vehicles and Road Traffic (Mobile Devices) Regulation, 2019 will come into effect. He is warning that those who are found in violation of the laws will not be spared.
With a high number of vehicles traversing the roadways in Antigua and Barbuda at any given time, Minister Benjamin says carelessness must be tackled in the interest of safety.
Ryan Johnson of the Attorney General’s Chambers and one of the drafters of the bill explains that within the bill is an amendment to reckless and dangerous driving.
