Drivers Urged to Be Courteous on Roadways

Wednesday 26th September, 2018-One passenger on the Coaster Bus that was involved in Monday’s accident at Dutchman’s Bay remains in hospital.

The Traffic Department of the Royal Police Force told POINTE FM’s Nightly news that the individual is being kept for observation.

The circumstances under which the Coaster Bus and Sand Truck collided remain under investigation, but the Head of the Traffic Department, Inspector Elson Quammie said there were no serious injuries, and the close to 20 passengers on the bus were treated and discharged from hospital.

Inspector Quammie is appealing to drivers to be courteous on the roads. He said accidents are occurring because some drivers are always in a hurry.

The head of traffic noted Tuesday’s accident should not have happened, since there is no complication at the intersection in the vicinity of the Antigua Barbuda International Institute of Technology (ABIIT). He is appealing for drivers to be extremely cautious.

Meantime, the police are appealing to the driver of a bus that crashed into a yard on Cross Street today to turn himself in to the traffic department.
