Thursday 1st March, 2018 – A prominent figure in the Christian Community in Antigua and Barbuda, particularly the Nazarene Church has passed away.
Reverend Dr. Rosa Lee died yesterday at the age of 90 years, following a period of illness.
Dr. Lee Headed the Beacon Light Church of the Nazarene for decades before retiring several years ago. She is also known for her pastoral work throughout the region, having served as District Superintendent for the Nazarene Church in the Leeward/Virgin Islands District.
Here at home, Dr. Rosa Lee is being remembered as someone who selflessly dedicated her energies to education, music and the clergy.
In 2008, she was selected as chairman of a committee that investigated allegations of abuse at Her Majesty’s Prison. Female officers at the country’s lone penal institution were alleging that their superiors had been harassing them sexually.
In 2009, Dr. Rosa Lee was among a long list of Antiguans and Barbudans who received Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II’s Diamond Jubille award.
A Street in Gambles, Dr. Rosa Lee Drive, is named in her honour.
