The Caribbean Examinations Council, headquartered in Barbados, is welcoming the decision by the Antigua and Barbuda government to pay CXC fees for its students staring with refunds for fees already paid and a commitment to pay the fees for 2026 academic year and beyond.
In a posting on Facebook page, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of CXC, Dr. Wayne Wesley, said the action by the Antigua and Barbuda government comes at a time of profound change in the world. “It is a huge step for inclusive education and gives impetus to CXC’s duty of care for the region, that of ‘Igniting the Potential and Shaping the Future of our Caribbean people,” he remarked.
He said on behalf of the Board of Directors of the CXC, he wishes to commend ‘this exemplary initiative’ that will be spearheaded by the Ministry of Education of Antigua and Barbuda.
“In expanding access to CXC’s world-class credentials to higher education and the world of work, the Ministry of Education has defined a sustainable pathway that will have a profound positive and lasting impact on the youth of Antigua and Barbuda, and by extension the entire society for generations to come,” Dr. Wesley declared.
