The world steelpan fraternity is this month celebrating Steelpan month and here in Antigua and Barbuda the Department of Culture is organizing at least one major event to ensure that panmen/women in Antigua and Barbuda are not left behind.

In celebration of World Steelpan Day (August 11) and Steelpan Month, the Department of Culture, in collaboration with its friends and partners, is proud to present Pan in the City—a vibrant celebration of the national musical instrument slated for Friday, August 15, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm at the VC Bird Bust Band Stand in the heart of St. John’s.

This special event will feature performances by some of Antigua and Barbuda’s finest steel orchestras:

  • Pandemonium Steel Orchestra
  • Panache Steel Orchestra
  • CUB Hells Gate Steel Orchestra,
  • Alongside captivating solo showcases by Japhon Bartley, Gavin Francis, and the legendary IBO Lashley and Curtis “CC” Cochrane.

This pan event will be hosted by popular entertainer, Ibis the Livest and along with Anto. Both are expected to the show moving with much energy and vibe.

The Culture Department said in partnership with St. John’s Development Corporation and the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, attendees can also look forward to exciting ticket specials and giveaways for the upcoming CPL tournament beginning August 16, 2025.

A Celebration with Purpose

Pan in the City is more than a performance—it is a tribute to the enduring cultural legacy of the steelpan.

Born in the Trinidad and Tobago and embraced around the world, the steelpan is a powerful symbol of creativity, innovation, and resilience. This event aims to raise awareness of its vital role in our communities, not only as an art form but also as an educational and unifying force that connects generations and inspires national pride.

The media and the public are invited to join in capturing and sharing this celebration of Antigua and Barbuda’s rich musical heritage.
