Wednesday 7th February, 2018 – Classes resumed on Monday for scores of Barbudan students who are currently residing on the sister isle.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology made the decision last week to ensure that all students will be given an opportunity to continue their education pursuits, whether on Barbuda or in Antigua.
Director of Education, Clare Browne says from reports he has received, students and teachers are settling in at Sir Mc.Chesney George Secondary School, where both primary and secondary students will be taught.
While some level of normalcy returns to the classroom, Mr. Browne noted that work continues. While the secondary school suffered minor damage from the passage of Hurricane Irma last year and was repaired, work on the restoration of water and electricity to the school will be undertaken shortly.
The Board of Education has pledged to provide the necessary resources needed to aide teachers and students in the classroom.
Approximately 80 school aged children and their relatives are domiciled in Barbuda, as the re-building process continues
