Having already secured their maiden title, the ABI Insurance and Cool and Smooth Pytonz have extended their unbeaten run in the Men’s Division 1 competition of the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association’s (ABAVA) Local Club League.

The Pytonz, who have two games remaining, recorded their tenth win in as many games in the seven-team round-robin league with a hard-fought 3-2 victory against the Storming Lions at the indoor stadium at the YMCA Sports Complex on Monday evening.

The Pytonz took an hour and 47 minutes to secure their 25-17, 22-25, and 25-20, 22-25, and 15-12 victory against the Storming Lions to remain at the top of the standings with an unassailable 44 points.

The result also ensured that the Storming Lions finished their campaign in third place after slumping to their fifth defeat from their quota of 12 games.

Last year’s men’s Division 1 champions, Theatric Lighting and Stage Effects and JOMA Caribbean Stoneville, advanced from third to second place by pulling off a 3-0 victory via default against Vernon G. Edwards High Flyerz.

Stonville notched up their eighth win in 11 games after being awarded a 25-0, 25-0, and 25-0 victory against the High Flyerz, who were unable to field a team for their encounter.

The result allows the High Flyerz to remain in fourth place after suffering their fifth loss in 10 encounters.

The Men’s Division 1 League will resume with a double-header at the YMCA Sports Complex on Thursday.

The High Flyerz will take on the Phoenix High Flyerz at 6:45 pm, and the Pytonz will meet the Invaders at 7:45 pm.
