There are reports that the police have arrested two employees of the Vector Control
Unit at the Central Board of Health after they were allegedly caught stealing diesel.
Reliable sources have confirmed the incident, noting that the fuel was intended for
use in spraying locations across the country where there is a presence of stagnant
water, in order to curtail the breeding of mosquitoes.
One of the employees was reportedly found with at least five gallons of diesel at
his place of residence, while the other was also found with a quantity of the fuel at
his home.
It is reported that the workers colluded to siphon the diesel, which they collected
each morning to carry out their duties.
Police are investigating reports that the diesel was being sold to a trucking
operation.
The authorities reportedly acted quickly when they were made aware of the racket.
